In the Spanish property market after the burst of the real estate market bubble, its even easy to obtain luxury properties in the most renowned holiday resorts on all the Spanish Costas at very low-cost prices. A little while ago a wide range of home owners who possessed a fantasy of selling up in the UK and moving to the Costa Blanca area and warmer climes had to put their dreams on hold due to the high prices of property in Spain.
However, these days many people buying property in Spain are finding prices more than affordable once more. My husband and I have been looking for property in Spain since 2006, and we have decided now is the right time to buy, as we can get a three-bedroom house with a communal pool for 180,000 euros; in 2007 we looked at similar houses, but they were going for around 300k which was beyond our budget.
Although we have not yet signed, we have put a deposit on a house in Benidorm. It is located about 8 minutes walk from the Rincon de Loix, where there are lots of great bars and restaurants. The location is about 10 minutes from the beach, but the walk is pleasant and there is a very large communal pool should we not feel like going to the beach. there is also a bar and a restaurant by the pool, so everything we need is on hand.
Fortunately, despite house sales being slow in the UK, we were able to sell our Liverpool house quickly, with the help of an agency that specialises in fast house sales. We had to take a few thousand less than we had originally hoped for, but as we were so keen to sell and get moved, it seemed a good compromise. Hopefully we will complete before Xmas, and spend Christmas this year sunning ourselves while drinking cold beer and sangria at the poolside!
Happy new year!
